Assemblymember Marc Steinorth Named Vice Chair of Housing Community Development Committee

Press Release

Sacramento – Assemblymember Marc Steinorth, R-Rancho Cucamonga, announced that he has been appointed Vice-Chair of the Assembly Housing and Community Development Committee for the 2015-2016 legislative session by Assembly Speaker Toni Atkins.

“I am honored to serve California as a representative of our region as the Vice-Chair of the Assembly Housing and Community Development Committee. In this capacity, I look forward to finding bipartisan answers to the various pressures and conflicts which arise in housing and land use,” said Assemblymember Steinorth. “As our economy and housing market begin to recover from the recession, I seek to grow jobs for middle class families and secure lasting solutions and effective policies which will enhance the ability of all Californians to access affordable housing in a flourishing community.”

The Housing and Community Development Committee oversees issues with common interest developments, housing finance, homeless programs, land use planning, and building standards. As a former City Councilman for the City of Rancho Cucamonga, Assemblymember Steinorth has abundant experience working with similar policy decisions at the local level. Further, he has served as the president of local homeowners associations and has spent time volunteering with the local organization OUR Homeless.

Assemblymember Steinorth’s extensive local government experience makes him well-suited to be the Vice Chair of the Assembly’s Housing Committee, where he will bring a real world perspective to housing legislation and making the dream of home ownership achievable for more Californians,” said Assembly Republican Leader Kristin Olsen (R-Modesto).

Assemblymember Steinorth will also serve on the Governmental Organization Committee and Health Committee. Assemblymember Steinorth, R-Rancho Cucamonga, represents the 40th Assembly District in the California Legislature, encompassing the communities of Rancho cucamonga, Highland, San Bernardino, Devore, Lytle Creek, Redlands, Mentone and Loma Linda.
