Veterans learned about employment services, healthcare and more.

RANCHO CUCAMONGA – Assemblyman Marc Steinorth, R-Rancho Cucamonga, today hosted his second Veterans Resource Fair in San Bernardino County in response to the success of last year’s event. The event, held at Central Park in Rancho Cucamonga, provided veterans and their families with a multitude of resources to help them with education, employment, mental health and wellness, housing services, veteran ID cards and other needed services.

“Veterans who return from service and even those who have been out of active duty for a while, need resources to help them transition back to civilian life,” said Steinorth. “Many are faced with the difficulties of applying military training to jobs in civilian life and with navigating bureaucracy to get the services they have earned while serving our country. This fair was about showing them that we care and offering some help through the many partner agencies that were present,” he added.

The Veterans Resource Fair provided veterans opportunities to speak face-to-face with agency representatives who could also arrange follow-up services. Hundreds of veterans who attended were able to get their questions answered. Veterans also heard about the successful efforts by Assemblyman Steinorth to add $10 million in funds to the recent No Place Like Home legislation to be used towards ending homelessness among veterans in California.

Brought back by request, the San Bernardino County Department of Veterans Affairs issued Military Veteran ID cards to honorably-discharged veterans. These ID cards allow veterans to receive discounts on products and services from businesses in the area.

“This resource fair provided a one-stop shop for veterans to get the assistance they need,” said Frank Guevara, Director of the San Bernardino County Department of Veterans Affairs. “We are proud to have partnered with Assemblyman Steinorth on this event and continue our support for veterans that need help in San Bernardino County.”

Community partners for Assemblyman Steinorth’s Veterans Resource Fair included the City of Rancho Cucamonga, the California Department of Veterans Affairs, the San Bernardino County Department of Veterans Affairs and the VA Loma Linda Healthcare System.

Assemblyman Marc Steinorth, R-Rancho Cucamonga, represents the 40th Assembly District in the California Legislature, which includes the cities of Redlands, Highland, Loma Linda, and portions of San Bernardino and Rancho Cucamonga.
