Today, Governor Brown announced the appointments of 18 superior court judges throughout the state. The judges were appointed in Los Angeles, San Luis Obispo, Ventura, San Francisco, Alameda, Shasta, Solano, Tulare, Orange, and San Diego counties.

The glaring omission from this list: San Bernardino County, where the state’s largest backlog of court cases await judges.

Governor Brown is not the only one at fault here, though. The truth is that Sacramento’s political elite continue to refuse to fund judgeships in San Bernardino County.

Assemblywoman Nora Campos (D-San Jose) explained during a budget subcommittee that it was more important for her district to have funding for continually VACANT judgeships than to provide the San Bernardino County court system with an adequate amount of judges (VIDEO HERE).

“When court cases are delayed, justice is delayed. The people of San Bernardino County deserve better and I will continue to fight to get funding for the justice system my constituents deserve,” said Assemblyman Marc Steinorth (R-Rancho Cucamonga).

Assemblyman Steinorth represents the 40th Assembly District which includes Rancho Cucamonga, San Bernardino, Highland, Loma Linda, and Redlands.
