The first female captain to command deputies in Rancho Cucamonga was recognized on the state Assembly floor Monday.

San Bernardino County sheriff’s Capt. Danielle Boldt was named as the 40th Assembly District Woman of the Year, according to a news release from the office of Assemblyman Marc Steinorth, R-Rancho Cucamonga.

“I’m honored to distinguish Chief Danielle Boldt. Her leadership and openness have made our community more safe and secure in spite of the policies passed in Sacramento,” Steinorth said in a prepared statement. “Her hard work, commitment and leadership is a reminder of the positive impact law enforcement has in our neighborhoods.”

Because Rancho Cucamonga contracts with the Sheriff’s Department for law enforcement, city officials often refer to the commanding officer as the chief of police.
